Can there be too many decorative pillows when it comes to accessorizing your bed? Actually, Houzz polled followers and asked them how many throw pillows were too many. The answers varied but many people felt that three to six throw pillows were a good number because after that pillows become impractical and have no use. So instead of decorating your bed with throw pillows, let’s look at some other practical furnishings that might help accessorize your bed with style.

Headboard
Inventory your bedroom and see what kind of furnishings you have. Is your room filled with elegant, sophisticated décor, is it modern, traditional, or rustic. You’ll want to match the style of headboard with your existing décor or find one that matches the look you are trying to achieve. A headboard can be a focal point for your bed and can often make a statement in the room. You can also create your own DYI projects and check out Pinterest for some great headboard ideas.

Pillows
Mix and match your pillows and also use different textures of fabric and color. Add fluffy round pillows to create a fun look. Yes, there is such a thing as too many pillows, but a good mix of a few pillows helps create a more luxurious look to your bed.

Comforter
You’ll want to find your style whether that is traditional, classic, modern, or anything in between. Consider if you want your comforter to be a neutral color or a bright and vibrant color. Also, consider a pattern or theme if you are trying to achieve a certain look for your bedroom. Find ways to create comfort and pay attention to the types of fabrics you incorporate. Since you spend a lot of time in your bed find fabrics that are soft, comfortable, luxurious feeling, and wash nicely.

Sheets
Find sheets that are comfortable and made of good quality. Understanding thread count is important. The higher the thread count the better quality the sheets may be. You’ll also want to check the quality of cotton. For example, the best types of cotton are 100% Egyptian cotton and 100 % Pima cotton. These can be expensive, but they are very soft and wash and wear well over time.  100% cotton is a little rougher type of cotton and you’ll find it wrinkles frequently when you wash it and may not hold up well over time. Remember whatever you choose comfort should be key.

Throw
Again, use various kinds of textures, fabrics, and colors when using a bed throw or blanket. There are a few different ways to style your throw on the bed. You can scrunch it up off to one side, you can spread it out entirely across the bed, or you can fold it up at the foot of the bed. Consider it an accent piece and have it match a color in your comforter or the throw pillows you have on the bed.

Mattress
While the look of your room is important, it is the quality of your mattress that is the most important. We sell mattresses in Boise, Idaho that are of the highest quality. This adjustable bed is great at relieving back pain and the incline also helps open up air passages to help you breathe better at night (and reduces snoring!). With the addition of a few accessorize your bed can have an entirely new look and be the center of attention in your room. Redecorating your bed is probably one of the least expensive makeovers you can do and it’s easy to create a new look with just a few simple changes. Have fun, use comfortable textures and fabrics, and even a splash of color and before you know it, you’ll have a luxurious sanctuary where you’ll love to rest your sleepy head at the end of a long day.
